Jennifer grew up in nearby Jasper County and is a 2002 graduate of Newton Community High School. After high school, Jennifer joined the Illinois National Guard and was deployed from December 2003 to January 2005. She served in Iraq with the 232nd Combat Service and Support Battalion as a personnel services specialist and was awarded an Army Commendation Medal in recognition of her dedication to duty and meritorious service.
Upon her return, Jennifer earned a bachelor's in English Arts with a minor in Pre-Law Studies at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. She graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Law in May 2011. While in law school, she worked as a clerk for the Effingham County State's Attorney's Office and the SIU Elder Law Clinic.
Jennifer began working for Heller, Holmes & Associates in November 2011. Her areas of practice consist of criminal law, family law, estates and estate planning, personal injury, medical malpractice, and social security disability. She is actively involved with pro bono representation through the Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation where she dedicates time to providing free legal representation for those without financial means. In both 2013 and 2014, the Fifth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee has recognized Jennifer for her outstanding service.
Jennifer is a member of the Illinois Bar Association, American Bar Association, and the Coles-Cumberland Bar Association.
